Norman The Conqueror
Coming Next Year

Calling All Performing Artists (and more)!

Are you ready to bring history to life with laughter, heart, and unforgettable storytelling?
Fordingbridge Players are thrilled to announce our most ambitious production yet:
Norman the Conqueror, coming October 2026.
What’s it all about?
Step into the shoes of 91‑year‑old Norman in 2020, as he looks back on his life in wartime Southampton during 1940—through moments both dramatic, tender, humorous and moving. This richly layered play is rooted in real events, and has a special connection to Fordingbridge through Norman’s marriage to a local girl, giving it truly personal resonance.
 Why this is special:
  • It’s our most expensive production to date, with a large cast and complex set
  • Time‑change scenes shifting effortlessly between 1941 and 2020
  • Live music and song woven through the narrative to heighten emotion and engagement
 Want a sneak peek?
If you are interested, or you know of others that are interested, please join us for a play reading on Wednesday, 1 October at Avonway starting 7pm. It’s a relaxed way to learn more, ask questions, and read the script.
Ready to take centre stage (or support from backstage)? We are looking for actors, singers and musicians.  That means someone like you or someone else you think would be great
  RSVP for the play reading.
Come and be part of something extraordinary—let’s make history feel alive together!
A play reading is a theatrical event where actors read a script aloud—often with minimal staging, no costumes or props, and limited movement. It’s a vital part of the development process for new plays and a way to explore existing works in a trusting, low-pressure setting
